Day 1; Addis Ababa

Arrival in Addis Ababa, meet and greet, check in to your hotel. Visit the city the whole day and overnight at hotel.

Day 2; Bahir Dar

Take a flight to Bahir Dar, situated on the shore of Lake Tana in northwestern Ethiopia. Bahar Dar is a small town set on the southeastern shore of Lake Tana (Ethiopia’s largest lake) where local fishermen still use papyrus boats and just 30Km (19Miles) from the spectacular fall (Tiss Issat). In the afternoon, drive to the Blue Nile falls (Tis Issat) for about 45 minutes from Bahir Dar followed 30 minutes’ walk from the main road to the falls. Here, experience the eye catching view when the Blue Nile starts its journey to the Mediterranean. These amazing waterfalls are 400 meters wide and more than 45 meters height. Overnight at hotel.

Day 3; Bahir Dar

In the morning, boat trip on Lake Tana will take you to the great water system that gives the Blue Nile its tremendous power. This boat trip also provides the opportunity to visit the magnificently preserved island monasteries of the thirteenth century including the ancient churches and treasure of Ura Kidane Mehret at Zeghie Peninsula and Azua Mariam. In the afternoon drive to Gondar, which was a capital city in the 16th century. Overnight at hotel.

Day 4; Gondar

From morning till the evening, visit the castles compound, Ruin palaces, Bath of King Fasiledes (1632-1667 G.C) and Debre Birhan Silassie Church which famous for its wall and ceiling paints of 18th Century. Overnight at hotel.

Day 05; Axum

In the morning, take a flight to Axum. Axum was the kingdom that dominated Africa and Asia for a thousand years. After arrival, visit St. Mary of Zion church where the Ark of the Covenant resides brought by King Solomon and Queen of Sheba’s son “Menelik” almost 3000 years ago. In the afternoon, visit the museum, Obelisks and Stele and the Castle Ruins of King Kaleb and Queen of Sheba’s Bath and Palace. Overnight at hotel.

Day 06; Lalibela

In the morning, take a flight to Lalibela also known as the New Jerusalem. In the afternoon, visit the first part of the eleven monolithic and semi monolithic of the 12th century Churches that are classified in to two cluster, Eastern and Western. Overnight at Hotel/ Lodge.

Day 07; Lalibela

In morning, visit the second cluster of the Lalibela churches. Later that afternoon excursion to Yemerhane Kirstos, remarkably beautiful structure built but not excavated in typical Axumite style with in a cave. Overnight at Hotel.

Day 08; Addis Ababa

Fly back to Addis Ababa and take a city tour.  Addis Ababa means “new flower” and is Ethiopia’s largest and capital city. Sitting at an elevation ranging from 7,000 to 8,300 feet. It is a unique mixture of new, tall buildings mingled and traditional houses. Visit Ba’ata church (Menelik’s Mausoleum), one of the oldest churches in Addis Ababa. See its beautiful paintings and the royal tombs of past Emperors. Next visit Emperor Haile Selassie’s former palace which is the now home of the Ethnological Museum. Exhibits here represent the best of the arts and crafts of the country and give an in-depth insight into the various people of Ethiopia. Later on, visit the National Museum, known to be the best museum in Africa, where cultural and archaeological relics, including a plaster cast of “Lucy”, the 3.2 million-year-old Hominid, are displayed. Later in the afternoon, visit Merkato, eastern Africa’s largest market. Finally, you get to visit the panoramic view of Addis Ababa from Entoto Mountain. In the Evening, transfer to bole international airport and fly back home.
